Budget Rooter was founded in 1992 by Suzanne J. Palady after she had become disabled and unable to work at her former job as a meat wrapper. Determined to continue to earn a living and armed with advice from her husband (a long-time plumber), Suzanne bought four telephone lines, the name “Budget Rooter,” and enlisted her son, Jeff, an experienced drain cleaner. She plied the telephones – marketing her new company, dispatching calls, and handling the office duties.
For the first three years, Jeff was the company’s only field technician, and was often out past midnight on service calls while going to school for his Master’s License. Soon, Budget Rooter became known throughout the industry for cleaning the dirtiest and most obstructed drains, even being called in on jobs by other plumbers.
As the word began to spread and the work began to roll in, Suzanne incorporated her business in 1998. Jeff trained new technicians and invested in the best green technology, using no chemicals. Jeff earned his Master Plumber’s license, and Budget Rooter expanded into full service plumbing along with drain cleaning. Since then, they have been featured in both plumbing trade magazines and in Delaware Today.
Budget Rooter was one of the pioneers in Delaware of trenchless water and sewer line replacements – an option which is safer, environmentally friendly, and less destructive to their customer’s lawn, walkways, and landscaping. Budget Rooter also continues to offer the alternative of conventional line repair and replacement, and added a second excavator to their fleet in 2013.
Proudly remaining family owned and operated, Budget Rooter has served the New Castle, Kent, and Cecil Counties for over 20 years. Most of our skilled technicians have been with us for more than ten years – they are background checked, drug screened, and they undergo frequent safety and skills training. Budget Rooter is known for providing an honest diagnosis of your issue and a fair price for fixing it – not for selling you a solution that you don’t need.
Today, Budget Rooter’s fleet includes eight fully-stocked service trucks, three high-velocity sewer jets, and two excavators. Overseen by Suzanne and Jeff, their mission is to provide excellent service at a fair price, to remain committed to the environment, and to treat their customers with integrity and respect.
